Abstract

The issue of radicalization, especially at schools, has been increasingly alarming. The process of radicalization at schools has entered into a variety of media and instruments, such as curriculum and teaching materials, including textbooks. This is often out of the government attention, by which this radical ideology runs massively but remains undetectable. As a result, students are very vulnerable to becoming victims of this ideology, either obtained from their environment including schools, social media, and others. The impact is very dangerous for the life of the nation in Indonesia as a very pluralistic and multicultural country. This Community Partnership Program aims to provide alternative media through artistic expression, especially music, in counteracting radicalization among students in junior high schools who are under the auspices of PERGUNU (Persatuan Guru Nahdlatul Ulama) in Bandung city, West Java. The methods used: 1) workshops for teachers so that in the long run they can get a correct understanding of the characteristics of radical Islam. The teachers were also trained in several songs with the theme of Islam rahmatan lil alamin to be able to share the knowledge given to students. 2) Training for students, in the form of teaching skills and knowledge related to Islamic music, 5-10 songs that contain Islam rahmatan lil alamin, tolerance, and love the motherland.
Keywords: de-radicalization; Islamic music training; teachers; and junior high school students
