SENI KALIGRAFI FEMINISME: SENI KALIGRAFI CHINA MODERN SEBAGAI KRITIK TERHADAP BUDAYA PATRIARKI CHINA.

Abstract


The patriarchal culture of the Chinese nation has a correlation with Confucianism which has become a life principle that is upheld by the people to this day. One form of patriarchal cultural violence against women is the suppression of their human rights to obtain education: Chinese women are prohibited from reading and writing. As a result of this practice, Chinese calligraphy became a special domain for men. This research will discuss about modern Chinese calligraphy as the latest development of Chinese calligraphy that is analyzed within the scope of feminist aesthetics, as part of contemporary art development. The research problem is limited to the identification of works of modern Chinese calligraphy that focus on gender issues as the concept. The research method used qualitative method consisting of literature studies about Chinnese modern calligraphy, feminist aesthetic and the critical performance structure used for the analysis of works. The results showed that in contemporary art, there are modern Chinese calligraphy created by female artists with feminism aesthetic approach who raise gender issues as its concept.
