Abstract

ABSTRAK Upacara ritual sebagai salah satu bentuk kesadaran masyarakat secara kolektif, masih diselenggarakan oleh masyarakat sebagai salah satu bentuk tradisi yang di lestarikan. Masyrakat Sunda merupakan salah satu suku yang hidup di Provinsi Jawa Barat, dan masyarakat ini secara kolektif masih melaksanakan berbagai upacara ritual sebagai bentuk pendukung tradisi. Salah satunya adalah kawin cai merupakan upacara ritual untuk kesuburan dan rasa syukur atas alam, masih dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat Kuningan, Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk melihat bagaimana struktur ritual ini dalam masyarakat Sunda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana tritangtu dari gejala simbolisasi materi dalam stuktur upacara ritual kawin cai. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa upacara ini merupakan ritus kesuburan dari pola perkawinan antara dunia atas, dunia tengah, dan dunia bawah, sebagai cara masyarakat untuk merawat sumber kehidupan, simbol-simbol yang tersirat dalam rangkaian upacara ritual, dan nilai upacara ritual kawin cai ini yaitu nilai material, nilai vital, dan kerohanian. Kata kunci: kawin cai, tritangtu, ritual, struktur, simbol ABSTRACT Ritual ceremonies as a form of collective community awareness, are still held by the community as a form of tradition that is preserved. Sundanese people are one of the tribes living in West Java Province, and this community collectively still carries out various ritual ceremonies as a form of supporting tradition. One of them is kawin cai is a ritual ceremony for fertility and gratitude for nature, still carried out by the people of Kuningan, West Java. This study focuses on looking at how this ritual structure in Sundanese society. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method, to describe how the tritangtu of the symptoms of material symbolization in the structure of the cai mating ritual ceremony. The results of this study show that this ceremony is a fertility rite of marriage pattern between the upper world, middle world, and lower world, as a way for people to care for the source of life, symbols implied in the series of ritual ceremonies, and the value of this cai mating ritual ceremony is material value, vital value, and spirituality.
