Abstract

Sundanese Karawitan is currently experiencing stagnation resulting from theforeignculturalinfluencesthereby impactingthecontinuityof Karawitanitself. Variousattemptsofpreservation, fostering,and development for Karawitan havecontinuously and sustainably beendone byindividuals, communities, and institutions for the sake of the continuity andeternity oftheart. One of Karawitan arts needs to be preserved is Karawitan Mandiri that comes from people for people" such as the Gamelan Ajeng/ Goong Renteng, Pantun Beton and Tarawangsa. The

existence of such artis currently quite alarmingsoit is needed efforts to preservetoremain preferable and soughtby varioussegmentsof society. It is required innovative and creative thinkingby supporting artists

of Karawitan Mandiribut is still grounded intheculturalrootsoftheir regions. Creativity and innovation performed on the folk arts are expected to liftup the artwithlocal culturespirit into the art with national and even international spirit. Ultimatelythe folkartsareabletobecome a local cultural asset and providesocial welfare.
