IBING TAYUB GAYA BARU KARAKTER LENYEP DALAM UPAYA REVITALISASI TARI KLASIK KASUMEDANGAN

Abstract

Ibing Tayub Gaya Baru Character Lenyep created by Rd. Ono Lesmana Kartadikoesoemah is currently
almost extinct. This can be caused by several factors, one of which is the lack of interest of the younger
generation to learn this dance. In fact, if we look at the form of presentation, there are cultural philosophical
values of the community as a representative of the life of the nobility in the past. Therefore, in this study as
an effort to preserve local culture, a study of dance tapping was carried out as part of the initial steps in an
effort to revitalize the classical dance of Kasumedangan. The purpose of this study is to stimulate the
community, especially the younger generation, and help preserve and develop Ibing Tayub Character
Lenyep and produce a concept of new dance works originating from Ibing Tayub Character Lenyep. This
research was conducted in Sumedang Regency, more precisely at Sanggar Dangiang Kutamaya and
Padepokan Sekar Pusaka. The research method uses qualitative methods by conducting observations,
interviews, documentation and dance tapping studies. The results of this study provide data on the
structural aspects of the dance presentation and cultural issues that, if not addressed immediately, risk
extinction of the Ibing Tayub Gaya Baru with a vanishing character.
