ETHICAL STATEMENTS OF SCIENTIFIC PERIODICAL

JOURNAL OF VISUAL ARTS

 

Atrat is a Journal of Visual Arts containing scientific papers which includes Fine Art and Design, publisher by Jurusan Seni Rupa ISBI Bandung (p-ISSN 2339-1642 & e-ISSN 2722-7200). Jurnal Atrat also embodies the results of various forms of scientific research as well as the creation of artworks, which can become new knowledge published in scientific articles, so it is worthy to be read and understood by readers. Atrat aims to give land to Artists, Designers, Art Students, Teachers/Lecturers, and Fine Arts Society to exchange insights.

These ethical statements are a statement for all parties involved in the process of publication of scientific journal, including a manager, editors, peer-reviewers, and authors. This Code of Ethics of Scientific Publication essentially upholds three ethical values in publications, namely:

 

Neutrality, which is free from conflict of interest in the management of publications;

Justice, which gives the right of authorship to the author;

Honesty, that is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

 

Journal Manager Duties and Responsibilities (Administrator)

 

  1. Determine the name of the journal, focus and scope, periodical, and accreditation where appropriate;
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial boards;
  3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, peer-reviewers, and other parties in a contract;
  4. Keep confidentiality, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer-reviewers;
  5. Apply norms and provisions on intellectual property rights, especially copyright;
  6. Review journal policy and submitting it to authors, editorial boards, peer-reviewers, and readers;
  7. Create code guides for editors and peer-reviewers;
  8. Publishing the journal regularly;
  9. Ensure the availability of financial resources for sustainability of journal issuance;
  10. Establish networks and marketing;
  11. Prepare permissions and other legality aspects.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor

 

  1. Meet the needs of readers and authors;
  2. Seek the continuous improvement of publication quality;
  3. Implement the processes to ensure the quality of published papers;
  4. Prioritize freedom of expression objectively;
  5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic record;
  6. Deliver corrections, clarifications, withdrawals and apologies as needed;
  7. Responsible for the style and format of the paper, while the contents and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the authors;
  8. Actively seek the opinions of authors, readers, partners, and board members of editors to improve the quality of publications;
  9. Encourage the assessment of the journal if any findings are made;
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by requesting authors to enclose an Ethical Clearance form approved by the Ethical Clearance Commission;
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers about ethical publications;
  12. Examine the effect of publishing policy on the author's views and peer-reviewers and improve them to increase responsibility and minimize errors;
  13. Have open minds to new opinions or views of others that may be contrary to personal opinions;
  14. Do not defend an opinion of oneself, author or third party that may result in a non-objective decision;
  15. Encourage authors/writers, in order to make improvements to the paper to be published.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Peer-Reviewers

 

  1. Receive an assignment from the editor to review the paper and submit the review to the editor, as a matter of determining the feasibility of a paper to be published;
  2. The reviewers shall not review any paper involving him or her directly or indirectly
  3. Keep the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, feedback and recommendations;
  4. Encourage authors to make improvements to the paper;
  5. Review the written works that have been improved in accordance with the standards specified;
  6. The papers are reviewed following the journal style (data collection methods, author's legality, conclusions, etc.).

 

Duties and Responsibilities Author/ Writer

 

  1. Ensure that the authors/writers in the list meet the criteria as authors/writers;
  2. Collectively responsible for the work and the contents of the article include methods, analysis, calculations, and details;
  3. State the resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly;
  4. Describe the limitations in the study;
  5. Respond to comments made by professional reviewers in a professional and timely manner;
  6. Inform the editor when the paper will be withdrawn;
  7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has not previously published in any form, and not in the process of submitting to other journals.
