About the Journal

CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is a peer-reviewed, open access academic journal published biannually (in February and August) by the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts and Design, Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia (ISBI) Bandung.

CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the fields of art and interdisciplinary studies. The journal provides a platform for critical discourse, creative exploration, and scholarly engagement in the fields of visual arts, crafts, and design.

CAIJ encourages contributions that bridge traditional and contemporary practices, local wisdom and global perspectives, as well as theory and artistic experimentation. It aims to foster dialogue between disciplines, cultures, and communities through critical and reflective approaches to art-making, research, and education.

Published biannually (in February and August), each issue of CAIJ features original research articles, theoretical essays, case studies, and practice-based research from scholars, artists, educators, and students.

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to current discourses in the arts.

Focus and Scope

CAIJ focuses on the publication of academic and creative works related to:

Art Creation: artistic experimentation, studio-based research, and practice-led methodologies in Fine Arts, Crafts, Design and other media.

Design and Planning: conceptual and applied research in Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Architecture.

Art Criticism and Research: theoretical, historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary studies in the visual arts and creative practices, including:

  • Fine Arts
  • Visual Communication Design
  • Interior Design
  • Product Design
  • Fashion Design
  • Crafts: Textiles, Metal, Wood, Leather, Ceramics, etc.

The journal welcomes original articles, visual essays, project-based reports, and reviews that contribute to the development of knowledge and practices within the creative arts disciplines.

 

Open Access Policy

CAIJ is committed to the principle of open access. All content is freely available without charge to users or their institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

 

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their works published in CAIJ and grant the journal the right of first publication.
