Focus and Scope
CAIJ focuses on the publication of academic and creative works related to:
Art Creation: artistic experimentation, studio-based research, and practice-led methodologies in Fine Arts, Crafts, Design and other media.
Design and Planning: conceptual and applied research in Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Architecture.
Art Criticism and Research: theoretical, historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary studies in the visual arts and creative practices, including:
- Fine Arts
- Visual Communication Design
- Interior Design
- Product Design
- Fashion Design
- Crafts: Textiles, Metal, Wood, Leather, Ceramics, etc.

The journal welcomes original articles, visual essays, project-based reports, and reviews that contribute to the development of knowledge and practices within the creative arts disciplines.

Peer Review Process
CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal maintain the standards of peer review while increasing the efficiency of the process.
The initial review process is at least 1 months. The review proccess uses double-blind peer review.
All research articles published in CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal undergo full peer review, key characteristics of which are listed below:- All research articles are reviewed by at least two suitably qualified experts.
- All publication decisions are made by the journals’ Editor-in-Chief on the basis of the reviews provided
- Members of the Editorial Boards lend insight, advice and guidance to the Editors-in-Chief generally and to assist decision making on specific submissions
- Managing Editors provide the administrative support that allows CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal to maintain the integrity of peer review while delivering rapid turn around and maximum efficiency to authors, reviewers and editors alike.
- CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal additionally benefit through the manuscript referral process from the high quality peer review conducted by established journals.
Peer review of referred papers:
Editors of CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal will decide promptly whether to accept, reject, or request revisions of referred papers based on the reviews and editorial insight of the supporting journals. In addition, Editors will have the option of seeking additional reviews when needed. Authors will be advised when Editors decide further review is needed.
Peer review of novel submissions:
Articles submitted directly to CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal will be fully peer reviewed by at least two appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief or a designated member of the Editorial Board will then decide whether to accept, reject or request revisions based on the reviews and comments received.
Editors will decide whether each submission reports well-conducted research with conclusions supported by the data presented in the paper. Assessments of priority will not be a factor in decision-making, but all papers must make an incremental or novel addition to the literature.
Publication Frequency
Published biannually (in February and August), each issue of CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal features original research articles, theoretical essays, case studies, and practice-based research from scholars, artists, educators, and students.
Open Access Policy
CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is committed to the principle of open access. All content is freely available without charge to users or their institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

Authors retain the copyright of their works published in CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal and grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, which allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work non-commercially, with proper attribution.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
Article Processing Charge
CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission fees. All articles published in CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal are open access and freely available to readers without any subscription or payment. Authors are not required to pay any fees for submission, peer review, publication, or online access.
This policy reflects CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal commitment to supporting open access publication and promoting the free dissemination of scholarly work in the field of creative arts and interdisciplinary studies.
Plagiarism
All work in the manuscript should be free of any plagiarism, falsification, fabrications, or omission of significant material.
Authors are expected to explicitly cite others' work and ideas, even if the work or ideas are not quoted verbatim or paraphrased. This standard applies whether the previous work is published, unpublished, or electronically available. Failure to properly cite the work of others may constitute plagiarism. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Plagiarism screening will be conducted by CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal Editorial Board by using Advacheck - Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Bandung.
The maximum similarity rate allowed in is 25 percent.
Publication Ethics
CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is a journal aims to be a leading peer-reviewed platform and an authoritative source of information. We publish original research papers, review articles and case studies focused on CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal focuses on the interdisciplinary approaches in the creation, design, and critical study of the visual arts. It encourages the integration of theory and practice across a broad spectrum of visual art, craft, and design disciplines as well as related topics that has neither been published elsewhere in any language, nor is it under review for publication anywhere. This following statement clarifies ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the editor, the reviewer, and the publisher (LPPM ISBI Bandung). This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society.
LPPM ISBI Bandung as publisher of CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, LPPM ISBI bandung and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.
Publication decisions
The editor of CAIJ: Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
Fair play
An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial DecisionsPeer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
PromptnessAny selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
ConfidentialityAny manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of ObjectivityReviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgement of SourcesReviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
Disclosure and Conflict of InterestPrivileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
Duties of Authors
Reporting standardsAuthors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.
Data Access and RetentionAuthors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
Originality and PlagiarismThe authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent PublicationAn author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
Acknowledgement of SourcesProper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
Authorship of the PaperAuthorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Hazards and Human or Animal SubjectsIf the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflicts of InterestAll authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
Fundamental errors in published worksWhen an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
