AI Policy

Panggung Jurnal Seni Budaya upholds the principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity in academic publishing. In line with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), this policy defines the acceptable use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the creation, review, and publication of scholarly work.

1. Use of AI in Manuscript Preparation
Authors may use AI tools (e.g., language editing or data analysis support) only to enhance clarity or efficiency, not to generate substantial parts of the manuscript. Authors must maintain full responsibility for the content and accuracy of their work.
If AI tools are used, their use must be explicitly disclosed in the Acknowledgment or Methods section, specifying the tool’s name, purpose, and scope of use.

2. Prohibited and Unethical Uses
The following uses of AI tools are strictly prohibited:

  • Generating original text, ideas, or artistic elements presented as human-authored work.

  • Fabricating or manipulating data, images, or references.

  • Using AI to simulate peer-review or to generate false authorship contributions.

AI-generated content cannot claim authorship, as AI systems do not meet authorship criteria defined by COPE and Panggung Jurnal Seni Budaya.

3. AI in the Review and Editorial Process
Editors and reviewers shall not use generative AI tools to analyze confidential manuscripts or to produce review reports. Manuscripts must be handled by human reviewers to ensure ethical oversight, confidentiality, and accountability.

4. Publisher and Ethical Oversight
The editorial board reserves the right to verify AI-related disclosures and request clarifications from authors. Any violation of this policy may be treated as a breach of publication ethics and managed according to COPE’s misconduct procedures.

5. Guiding Principle
AI tools may assist scholarly communication but cannot replace critical human judgment. Transparency in AI use strengthens trust in research integrity and supports the journal’s mission to preserve authenticity in cultural and artistic scholarship.
