Panggung in this edition brings the issue about transformation and modification in performing arts and other art forms, with the theme, “The transformation of forms and values in arts and cultural tradition.” The theme covers several topics in different subjects including performing arts, literature, visual arts, and contemporary music. The issues of transformation and modification in performing arts are discussed by some scholars. First, Arnailis et al. examine the transformation of Kim, a traditional performance originated from a game in gamble in the past which then become entertainment songs played in a wedding ceremony in West Sumatra, and then Ediyono discusses the meaning of pencak silat as the art containing best values of Indonesian cultural practices. Further, in the area of music, Firdaus et al. explain about transforming traditional art called Balaganjur Taruna Goak into a modern form of jazz. They see that both kinds of music have similar patterns. Meanwhile, in the area of visual arts and design, Listiani et al. creating new media for performing art learning by modifying traditional dance from different regions using the technology of AR (augmented reality) called AR PASUA PA. In a different method, Wibowo et al. modify Wayang Topeng Malangan into new forms with a new context. While Sriwardani et al. offer an alternative modern house by using a traditional house design in Kampung Pulo, Garut as a model. Lastly, by studying literature, Siswanto explores the leadership philosophy in Semar as a prominent character in wayang as a model for a national leader.
