Panggung in this edition presents the theme Dinamika Seni Tradisi dan Modern: Kontinuitas dan Perubahan (The Dynamic of Traditional and Modern Arts: Continuity and Changes). This last edition of the journal in 2018 provides 9 (nine) articles discussing various topics on innovation and creation in traditional arts following changes in the modern era. This also means that the tradition has significant interaction with modern aspects of the art. Among the 9 articles, 8 papers deliberate traditional performing arts in their various forms of dance, music and theatre. Those articles put tradition in its intersection with modern elements, especially pop culture, to negotiate new meanings and values as shown in Rahman et. al, Futri et. al, and Raditya et. al. Meanwhile, the re-interpretation oftraditional art in a new context discussed by Rosilawati et al.andYesriva et. al. Further, new forms of traditional arts are presented by Susandrajaya and Ariastuti, particularly to support the economic growth in their community. The last is the only paper talking about a traditional craft that is presented by Sofyan et al. They examinepayunggeulis from Tasikmalaya as a local knowledge based-product, which is nearly extinct because of its inability to compete with modern products in a free market.
